The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Alexander Steen Jersey Youth , under the leadership of Chairman Deepak Kumar Mishra and CGM (IT & Highway Operations) Akhilesh Srivastava, is spearheading the Central government鈥檚 initiative to modernise India鈥檚 highways sector. The cluster project is being monitored by the Ministry of Roads Transport & Highways (MoRTH) under Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Already functional in a few places in the country, the government鈥檚 enterprise is changing the way commuters travel on highways. The end-goal of this initiative is to provide travellers with a safe and transparent experience compliant with international standards.
The flagship project is broken down into several subprojects, including Wayside Amenities (WSA), Electronic Toll Collection (ETC), road safety, Incident Management, web radio, solar lighting, and green corridors along national highways.
The WSA is a mega project that is further divided into three subprojects 鈥?Highway Village, Highway Nest, Highway Nest (Mini). This mega project will serve as a safe halting point for the commuters on national highways. The projects are planned to house the modern civic amenities, from ATMs to branded restaurants, for commuters (passengers and cargo transporters alike), and to provide employment to the local population. The WSA is going to enhance not only safety but also hygiene on the highways. The project is a synergy of public and private efforts to develop the country and its road infrastructure.
The ETC replaces manual Toll collection and is poised to take overall tolling lanes in the nation. It uses RFID technology, Automatic Vehicle Detection, and FASTag services to deduct the fee instantly from passing vehicles. This system doesn鈥檛 require an Internet connection or working staff. This project also complements the government鈥檚 Digital India initiative to make all its services electronic. ETC will make the highways sector transparent and free of fraudulent practices.
The NHAI is also working on a pilot project for GPS-enabled tolling. This advanced concept will use satellites to deduct Toll charges when the vehicle passes through a zone. This will potentially eliminate the need for Toll gates.
CGM Akhilesh Srivastava and his team are currently integrating IT with road safety to mitigate traffic congestion, prevent accidents, and provide evacuation during disasters. The Traffic Incident Management System (TIMS) is first of its kind in India and uses high-end technology to put commuters out of harm. National highways now also have a common emergency helpline - 1033 to report any kind of incident.
Akhilesh Srivastava has also introduced industrial drones, LiDAR, PMIS, and GIS to monitor highway projects and prepare their DPRs. The confluence of advanced technology and the highways sector will result in the expeditious development of the nation鈥檚 highway infrastructure and commuter experience.
A few of the several undertakings being helmed by Akhilesh Srivastava, this cluster project will overhaul the nation鈥檚 roadways and put it in the league of countries with futuristic capabilities.

Recently, Mr. Jeevan Sinha retired from his position of head clerk from a reputed government department. After retirement, Mr. Sinha ran into lot of trouble in getting his dues and pension on time. The lawyer took the help of the Administrative Tribunal Act 1985 while putting forward Mr. Sinha鈥檚 case.
According to this law, if a government official is denied his dues after retirement, the person can take to the help of judiciary for getting justice. The act forces the government departments to clear out the dues of the applicant. Along with it, the court might levy heavy fine on the department for delays. Lawyer for service matters represents such cases in the court. As per the ruling of Supreme Court, no government lawyer should be denied his dues. And, any intentional delays in the part of the government departments can bring in huge penalties for them.
What is Administrative Tribunal Act 1985?
The Administrative Tribunal Act 1985 was formed to address the issues of public servants who have retired from their respective departments. The given act made sure that the dues of the official鈥檚 dues were paid in time after their retirement. The main aim of the act was to provide quick and inexpensive justice to the applicant. The act worked as a stepping-stone address their grievances against the service matters.
A government official working under any department of central or state government do come under the wings of this law. However, the employees under the security forces such as naval, military, or air forces are exempted from it.
